The apartment

We are so incredibly happy with our apartment at Puri Hiromi Boutique Residence! But that was no surprise of course. We already spent 2 nights here last year to test it out and we were more than happy with it. I don't think we could have found another apartment as complete as this one, in such a perfect location and for the price we paid. I will talk about each one below.

By the way, our apartment is on the second floor. The apartment below us is about the same, but all the apartments on the first floor have a private pool. As chill as this sounds, we would not use that and it would cost a lot more as well.

The Area

First, I'll just tell a little more about the location. I said it to Dion just last week, "I think we are on the nicest street in Sanur and our apartment is in the coziest part of it." And he agrees! The street is nice and busy. Not chaotically busy, but pleasantly busy. There are many restaurants and live music everywhere every night. We are within walking distance of supermarkets, coffee shops and the gym. There are also numerous side streets selling traditional Indonesian food. Also not unimportant: Sanur Beach is 300 meters from our front door! So we couldn't have it any better. The entrance to our apartment is not on the street, but in a kind of niche, which in itself feels safe.

Safety

What I mean by that niche is that you have to enter some kind of courtyard before you get to the apartments. From late afternoon, a guard stands at the entrance to the courtyard, and at night the gate at the entrance is locked. They even handle safety so well here that when we order food, the reception receives our order and personally delivers it to our door. All hotel staff know all guests by name, so they know exactly who should and shouldn't be on the property. So strangers can't enter the site unseen or unaccompanied.

I can tell a lot about the gate or courtyard, but you better check the video below. I have posted this on Instagram before and it gives a good idea of what the street and the terrain look like. It's in English, but it all speaks for itself.

Facilities

The apartment is pretty complete. We have a couch facing the TV, a dining area, air conditioning in the living room and in the bedroom, a really large bed, bathroom with spacious shower and a private balcony. We have a kitchenette with electric stove (2 "burners"), microwave and kettle. But we don't use the kitchen that much. Besides the fact that eating out is cheaper than grocery shopping, we miss some stuff to cook entire meals. We have a cooking and frying pan, 2 spatulas, 1 sharp knife and cutlery and tableware for 2. Don't get me wrong, we have a lot here. But because you are used to so much more at home, you still miss out when you are looking for basic things like scissors, bread knife or cleaning stuff.

All in all, we have nothing to complain about. To also get a better idea of the inside of the apartment, I made a second video for Instagram. Enjoy!

Even though we are talking about an apartment, it is still a hotel and we have a right to housekeeping. Of course we clean up ourselves, wash dishes and make the bed.... But it is nice that twice a week everything is completely cleaned, we get new towels and the bed is changed. We agreed with housekeeping that they come by on Mondays and Fridays.

The Cost

But what did this cost us? I do have to mention first that we were extremely lucky. I booked this apartment way before we knew the sabbatical would go through. When it was all still a vague plan. At that time Bali was just recovering from Corona and they had to do everything they could to attract tourism again. So did lowering their prices. That is how the price that we pay for the apartment for the next 3 months came about. It's 20 euros per night!!! If you now look on Booking.com for this apartment for the next few weeks, you will see prices between 50 and 217 euros per night. Of course, depending on the day. Let's take a whole month, like September. That's the beginning of the rainy season and prices are already going down a bit. You then pay about 1260 euros for the whole month. That already includes the discounts I get through the app, because the original amount would be 2282 euros... We pay 600 euros per month!!! Okay, enough about this. I just wanted to emphasize how good our deal is.

Hopefully we will be so lucky again at our next accommodation. Until then, we are enjoying this to the max!

Love,

Diana
